I wanted to write a review for this ring for a couple of reasons:

No one had reviewed this particular ring again, and
I appreciated in reading reviews of other customers', when I tried to take a difficult decision.

This ring has an identical brother, a carat 1 / 2, if it was more suited some people, the tenders. These reviews ring would probably be useful to anyone considering this ring.

As these ratings then I say that during the ringThe volume is a bit 'thinner is the photo, this is a great ring. It 'pretty, feminine and size of the diamonds is significant. I had no idea carats before ordering this ring, and now I feel confident that this dimension quite adequate. However, if you know that your partner has expressly stated the desire for a big diamond, then by all means ... Up to 1 / 2 carats or more. If you only have a ring that is well designed, modest, and is loved by its future owner to be, then this is yourring.

I also tried a bit 'about the size when I ordered it. I originally ordered a size 6, because this is "reasonably" before they finally discover ever received from a jeweler to take my girlfriend and she is a 7 1 / 2. Diva Diamonds I emailed and received a reply almost immediately by a representative named Ryan. Was incredibly nice, I changed the size just in time, and I received the ring exactly 2 days later, completely wrapped in a ring and a classic black.

When science was able to consistently manufacture clear crystals of silicon carbide, the gemstone "Moissanite" was born, named after the original discoverer from many years ago and before marketable crystals were producible.

This material is harder than most gemstones, not bothered by the heat used in jewelry work (meaning if prongs holding the stone need work in the future, the stone may be left in place for the work to be done). The stone is bright, durable, and wonderful to the eye. The only distraction is the "sometimes" slightly off-color. Simply ask for a "diamond carat size" when getting the stones to view. Most jewelers will do this automatically since they understand the size the customer wants is relative to the sizes of diamonds.

Believe a good look at some loose stones and a mounting selected and they you will be on your way, happy with the stone. These stones beat CZ is all aspects except the sometimes "tint" of color. CZ must be perfectly clean to really look diamond-like but the high refraction and characteristics of Moissanite keep it looking diamond like even when soiled somewhat.

Still, make an effort to keep all gemstones clean! All looks better that way and regular cleaning is the best way to check for wear and loose stones. Many jewelers will clean your item for free. Most should do that, I believe.

Moissanite is an excellent choice. But...be sure to see the stone first and pick the whitest (most color free) stone.

METALS

Platinum is an excellent choice for a ring but keep in mind that platinum will not keep a shine like white gold will. Platinum is durable, hypoallergenic, holds stones well and all that. Platinum is much more expensive than gold. Still, expect platinum do develop a dullish look after wearing a while.

The other metal might be Palladium, another metal in the platinum family. Do not get this. Palladium is a decent metal but many jewelers cannot work it properly and very, very little choice is on the market in palladium. We have NO palladium rings in our business. Palladium is mostly used to add to gold to make a form of white gold. Now, a white gold made with palladium is an excellent metal choice. You will have to go to a knowledgeable jeweler to find someone who knows the difference.

This is what I mean: White gold is made by taking pure gold which is yellow, adding other metals to make it a "karat" gold, like 14k or 18k. (Pure is 24k and too soft for jewelry.) Sometimes metals are added to change the color of the karat gold. For instance, more copper makes rose gold. More nickel makes white gold.

In recent years, more manufacturers are using palladium instead of nickel since some people are allergic to nickel or have sensitivity to the metal. Those people cannot wear white gold made white with nickel. So, we have palladium white gold which is a slightly different white than nickel white gold but looks great and has no skin sensitivity problems. Some newer nickel metal mixes of gold meet higher standards and have no "sensitivity" issues either.

I suggest asking for white gold (if platinum is out of the budget) and finding out if it is palladium white or nickel white. Ask if the nickel white meets the new "European standards" and is hypoallergenic. If the lady is used to white gold and has no problems with, regular nickel white gold should work fine. Just keep it out of anything with chlorine, like swimming pools, bleaches, hot tubs, etc. Chlorine works real danger on white gold made with nickel.

To illustrate my point, let's first consider the diamond itself: What is the desired size, or carat weight, of the diamond you are looking for? This will in turn be influenced by the price you want to pay for your diamond, and which of the four Cs you attach most importance to: cut, carat weight, colour or clarity.

Many people think of a one carat diamond, measuring about 6.5 millimeters in diameter, as the ideal size for an engagement ring - not too big and not too small. Now, a one carat diamond, which has excellent grades in all four Cs, might cost around £10,000, a pretty hefty investment for most people, to say the least. So, as with all major purchases, compromises will likely have to be made.

So as not to stray too far from my original topic, let's consider a one carat loose diamond costing, say, £2,000. This will most likely have a good cut, and be colour J (slightly tinted yellow) and clarity SI2 (inclusions which are not visible to the naked eye). A suitable setting for such a diamond might well be yellow gold, because the whiteness of platinum might accentuate the yellow tint of the diamond, whereas the yellow gold setting is more likely to complement it.

On the other hand, your main priority might be a pure colourless diamond with an ideal cut and few if any inclusions, but your budget remains the same at £2,000. In this case, the carat weight of your loose diamond will fall to around 0.65 carats, but your diamond will be ideal cut, F colour (colourless) and VVS1 clarity (tiny inclusions just visible under a microscope). And here's the best bit: a 0.65 carat diamond still measures about 5.6 millimeters across, just 0.9 millimeters less than the one carat diamond.

I could write a book about the various options available for round brilliant cut diamonds alone, not to mention the various fancy shapes of diamond that are available, but to return the subject of what metal to choose for your diamond engagement ring, the choice really has to be between platinum or yellow gold.

Why not white gold? Well, for one thing, white is obviously not the natural colour of gold, so in order to obtain the white(ish) colour, yellow gold is alloyed with a white metal such as nickel or palladium. As these metals, especially nickel, can be a skin irritant for susceptible people, and also because the alloy still retains a slight yellowish tint, the alloy is then plated with another, hypoallergenic white metal, called rhodium. This coating is very thin and can start to wear off after a year or two, and your ring will need to be re-plated in order to preserve its whiteness and its hypoallergenic qualities.

Platinum, on the other hand is used in virtually its pure state. It is pure white, very strong, does not tarnish and is the perfect complement for your white diamond.

So, to recap, the choice is really between platinum and yellow gold. A platinum ring setting should cost around £350, and a gold setting around £200 (these are internet prices - you can double them for the high street!). The extra cost of platinum can easily be absorbed by compromising slightly on the diamond specifications, if indeed £150 is really an issue when you consider that a platinum diamond ring will last more than a lifetime.

It is important to remember that the prices for loose diamonds and settings that I have used in my examples are internet prices. Expect to pay at least double on the high street for the same products.
